Two Blankets, Three Sheets blog tour starts January 6th

January 2020 sees the English-language publication of Rodaan Al-Galidi’s Two Blankets, Three Sheets – already a bestseller in the Netherlands and Germany.

Taking its name from the two blankets, three sheets, a towel, a pillow and a pillowcase (the items he was given when he claimed asylum and remained his main possessions for nine years), this novel is based upon Rodaan’s own experience when he landed in Schiphol airport, Amsterdam in 1998, after fleeing Iraq to avoid conscription into Saddam Hussein’s army and spending seven years on the run in Asia.

Now, safely in the heart of Europe, Samir/Rodaan is sent to an asylum centre and assigned a bed in a shared dorm, where he will spend the next nine years. As he navigates his way around the absurdities of Dutch bureaucracy, Samir tries his best to get along with his 500 new housemates. Told with compassion and a unique sense of humour this is an inspiring tale of survival, a close-up view of the hidden world of refugees and human smugglers, and a sobering reflection of our times.

Some of the UK’s top book bloggers are reviewing Rodaan’s book. You can see follow the #twoblanketsthreesheets blog tour from 6 January at these blogs:
